Obituary of Ida Savarese

Ida Savarese, 95, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday evening, December 10, 2007 at St. Joseph?s Hospital in Tampa, FL. She was born in Gloversville on November 20, 1912 the daughter of the late Joseph and Henrica Fanini Sirtoli. Ida enjoyed many happy years surrounded by her family and friends. She lived in Gloversville for nearly her entire life, having moved to Florida for the last three years. Her husband of 63 years of marriage, Louis Savarese, passed away in 1994. Ida and her husband loved to travel and had visited destinations including Hawaii, Florida and Europe. She loved crocheting and gardening, cooking and baking. She was a longtime member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. Ida had a warm and gentle spirit and a wonderful humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Henrietta and Stephen Fontecchio of Sun City Center, FL and Gloria and John Anagnostopolos of Gloversville; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday, December 14, 2007 from 4 to 7 PM at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A prayer service will be held Saturday morning at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM from St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Gloversville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, 149 S. Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
