Obituary of Barbara Jean Sargalis

Barbara Jean Sargalis, 69, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully at Mountain Valley Hospice on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 29, 1947 in Lancaster, New Hampshire; she was a daughter of the late Riley A. Thompson, Sr. and Virginia Lund Eschler. Once Barb moved to the area, she attended local schools, graduating from Bishop Burke High School. Barbara worked for Price Chopper in Amsterdam, as well as Johnstown until her retirement. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Sargalis, whom she wed on June 6, 1966; son, Richard Sargalis; daughter, Bobbi White (Lyman); siblings, Debra Kilmartin, Joyce Peters (Vince), Denise Thompson, Ronald Thompson (Elizabeth) Bonnie LaBay (David) and Cheryl Thompson; grandsons, Josh, Nick, Wyatt and Reed. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Besides her parents, Barb was predeceased by her brothers, Riley Thompson, Jr. and John Thompson. Barbara's wishes were that there be no formal calling hours or services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. Amsterdam.
