Obituary of Adamo A. Eddie Costello

Adamo A. ?Eddie? Costello, 91, of Christman Place, Amsterdam, passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born in Amsterdam, NY on November 14, 1916 a son of Peter and Ann Perna Costello. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Amsterdam schools. Mr. Costello was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the European Theatre. He was wounded in action and received a purple heart. After the war he returned to Amsterdam and was employed as a laborer in various mills including Collette Manufacturing and the Sanford Carpet Mills. He retired in 1991. He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. Eddie was a well known musician in the area. He played guitar and was an accomplished singer with the former Dusty Miller and the Colorado Wranglers Band. He was an avid baseball fan and always rooted for the Yankees. Mr. Costello also enjoyed playing Bocce in Amsterdam. He married Antoinette Frascatore Costello on September 26, 1948. In addition to his wife Antoinette he is survived by a son, Anthony Peter Costello and his wife Elizabeth of Melrose MA and a daughter, Susan Marie Costello of Bellville, N.J. Two grandchildren, Paul and Aina Costello of Melrose, MA. Two sisters, Stephanie and Jane Costello. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at 8:15AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with Father Lawrence J. Decker as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael?s Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday December 18, 2007 from 4:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael?s Church memorial fund.
