Obituary of Adah S. Vosburgh

Adah S. Vosburgh, 84, of Hickory Hill Road, Ft. Plain passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on November 19, 1923 in Utica, NY she was the daughter of the late Rev. Luther B. Scheehl and Harriet Hubbard. She was a graduate of Herkimer High School and of Wagner College in Staten Island, NY. For a time Mrs. Vosburgh taught in Schuyler, NY. After her marriage to Theron Vosburgh in 1947, she became a homemaker and raised three loving daughters. Mrs. Vosburgh was a dedicated and faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and served as church council secretary. She was church organist for a number of years. Mrs. Vosburgh also wrote curriculum for the Lutheran Church in America. She was a dispatcher for Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corps for a time. Mrs. Vosburgh loved reading. She also enjoyed embroidery work and was an avid gardener. In addition, she collected Depression glass and vintage postcards. Her loving family includes her husband of 60 years, Theron Vosburgh; three daughters, Amy Dievendorf and her husband Ronald of Canajoharie; Jan Vosburgh of Stone Arabia; Mari Vosburgh and her husband Hal Rosenthal of Delmar; two sisters, Carolyn McLean of Mohawk and Janice Pope of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Joseph Dievendorf and his fiancée Beth Smith of Albany, John Dievendorf of Albany and Mark and Elizabeth Rosenthal of Delmar and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Friday, December 21 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia, with the Rev. Gail Wolling and Rev. Richard Rieger officiating. Internment will take place in the spring in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours are private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the City Mission of Schenectady, both in care of the funeral home.
