Obituary of Elizabeth Mae Davis

Elizabeth Mae ?Betty? Davis, 86, of Third Avenue, Tribes Hill, New York passed away Friday morning, December 21, 2007 at the Edward L.Wilkinson RHCF with her loving family at her side. Betty had been a patient at the facility for 10 days. She was born September 8, 1921 in Fort Hunter, New York and was the daughter of the late Demilt and Mildred Moran Quackenbush. Betty graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School in 1939 and later graduated from Albany Business College. She was first employed as a secretary for General Electric in Schenectady for 15 years. She later worked for the Montgomery County Mental Health Clinic, retiring in 1985. Betty was a devoted member, deacon and elder of the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church and also served on the financial committee. She was co-chairperson and member of the Presbyterian women?s group of the church. Betty was a member of the Iroquois Senior Citizens. Betty won a lifetime leadership award for the Girl Scouts of America, was active in 4H and at one time, was a den mother for the Cub Scouts of America. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed traveling and cross country skiing for many years. On January 1, 1955, she married Gordon E. Davis, who passed away February 26, 1996. She is survived by two sons, Gordon A. Christine Davis of Amsterdam and Clark P. Robin Davis of Canajoharie; a daughter Kim Davis?Shatinsky and husband Howard of Napersville, Il.;seven grandchildren and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Sunday December 23, 2007 at 2:00 pm at the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY, with the Rev. Lois Dodge officiating. Burial will take place in spring at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Tribes Hill, NY. Calling Hours will be held on Sunday December 23, 2007 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made be made in Betty?s memory to the Tribes Hill Presbyterian Church, Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY 12177 or Tribes Hill Volunteer Fire Department, 280 Mohawk Drive, Tribes Hill, NY 12177.
