Obituary of Jorge Colon
Jorge Colon, 48, of Trinity Place, Amsterdam died unexpectedly Thursday morning December 27, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on February 22, 1959, a son of Damien and Juanita Ortiz Colon. He attended school in Puerto Rico. He worked for a time as a truck driver while in Puerto Rico. He delivered groceries with his grandfather to various grocery stores and locations.
He lived in Massachusetts for a time before coming to Amsterdam. While in Amsterdam, he worked for Original Work and AAA Appliances on Market St. in Amsterdam.
He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and attended St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his parents, Damien and Juanita Colon. Two sons, Jorge Colon Jr. of Amsterdam and Jason Colon of Amsterdam. Two daughters, Nilmarie Colon and Jessica Colon of Puerto Rico. Two brothers, Fernando Colon and Pedro Colon of Massachusetts. Three sisters, Migdalia Colon and Carmen Colon of Massachusetts and Marisel Colon of Amsterdam, NY. Nine Grandchildren, Adriana, McKayla and Damien Colon all local and six others. Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 31, 2007 at 8:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St., Amsterdam with Father Pascal ?Pat? Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday December 30, 2007 from 2:00P.M. to 5:00P.M. at the funeral home.
