Obituary of Bruno C. Czech
Bruno C. Czech, 91, died suddenly Saturday evening at St. Mary?s Hospital. He was currently a resident of River Ridge Living Center and resided in Amsterdam and vicinity his entire life.
Born on September 27, 1916 to the late Jacob and Mary Przybylo Czech, he attended Amsterdam High School and Syracuse University. He retired from Schenectady Chemicals SI Group. Earlier in his career, he was a weaver at Bigelow Sanford and subsequently worked for St. Stanislaus Church, Consolidated Novelties, Star Bakery and Fiberglass Industries.
He was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish and a former member of the Polish National Legion, St. Michael?s Society and the Bigelow Weavers Club. ?Bronco? was a well known athlete and played for the Amsterdam Zephyrs. He loved to travel by car. He enjoyed gardening and won numerous ribbons at the County and State Fair.
Mr. Czech was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Wojnar Czech and a son Terence Czech.
He is survived by Lawrence and Barbara Czech, Delanson; Gregory Czech, Augusta, GA; Jerome and Leigh Czech, Branford, CT; and Catherine Sefton and Wayne Jordan, Rutland, MA; 5 grandchildren Amy, Bryan, Christopher, Jason, and Jeffrey Czech; 2 great-grandchildren Kaylee and Kenneth Czech; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his sisters Katherine Golicki, Lottie Leokadia Felong, Nellie Angela Newkirk and Alfreda Scott and brother Funzy Alphonse Czech.
Mr. Czech has made an anatomical gift to Albany Medical College.
His family would like to thank the staff at River Ridge Living Center especially the A wing for the excellent and compassionate care given to Bruno.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday January 6, 2008 at the Betz, Rossi, and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
