Obituary of Robert M. Baldwin
Robert Morgan Baldwin, 89 of Gloversville, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility after a brief illness. Mr. Baldwin was born March 14, 1918 in Gloversville. He was the son of the late Douglas and Marion Morgan Baldwin. As a young man, Mr. Baldwin was employed by various leather manufacturers in the city of Gloversville and as a bus driver for the city transit system. Later he went to work for the Kingsboro Lumber Company where he remained for thirty years. During this thirty year period he started his own trucking and moving business on a part-time basis. After his retirement from the lumber company he continued his trucking and moving business full-time. He finally retired completely at the age of 85.
Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Dorothy Hallenbeck Baldwin, whom he married on April 10, 1937. Other survivors include one daughter: MaryJane Bruce Gardner of Gloversville; three sons: Warren Mavis Baldwin of Gloversville, Bradley Sandra Baldwin of Gloversville and Gregory Mary Baldwin of Broadalbin; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren , two step-great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Eileen Deere of Johnstown, Marion Fagant of Gloversville and Donna Chambers of Broadalbin; three brothers: Richard Helen Baldwin of Gloversville, David Myra Baldwin of Mayfield and Douglas Baldwin of Johnstown and several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by one sister: Helen Louise Brink and four brothers: George, Roger, Watson and Donald.
Family and friends are invited and may call at the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville on Monday, January 7 from 4-7 p.m. where a Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 8 at 10 a.m. with The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Baldwin?s memory to the American Heart Association 440 New Karner Rd. Albany, N.Y. 12205 or to the charity of one?s choice.
