Obituary of Mamie Swartz
Mrs. Mamie Swartz, 98, of 201 S. Melcher Street, Johnstown, died Monday at her residence. Mrs. Swartz was born April 6, 1909 in Kansas City, Missouri, daughter of the late Elmer and Sally Robinson. She was educated in Missouri and had lived in this area most of her life. Although Mamie was a home maker most of her life, she had also worked as a glove worker at Perrone Leather and for a local pocketbook factory, retiring many years ago.
Mrs. Swartz was married to Raymond Swartz who pre-deceased her in 1981. Survivors include her daughter Barbara String of Johnstown, six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Dolores Ruslow, sisters, brothers and sister-in-law Dorothy Perrone.
A graveside service will be held 10 am Thursday at Ferndale Cemetery with Reverend Earl Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to a charity of choice.
