Obituary of Roland Frederick Bryant

Roland Frederick Bryant Sr., 76, of State Highway 30N, passed away Friday morning at his home with his loving family at his side. He was born October 27, 1931 in Schenectady, New York and was the son of the late Roland and Anna Frederick Bryant. He moved to Ft. Johnson as a child and in 1949 he graduated from the St. Mary's Institute. A plumber and steamfitter by trade, Roland worked in the Industry for over fifty years, with Local 105 out of Schenectady and was a graduate of the Master Plumber's Course. During the Korean conflict, he proudly served his country as a corporal for the US Marine Corps. He was a member of the Galway American Legion Post 1461 and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. A proud husband and father, he will be remembered as a strong quiet generous man, a Marine to the end, respected and very much loved by family and friends. He leaves his wife of over fifty one years, Joan Frances Jacobs Bryant whom he wed on June 30, 1956; children; Roland Bryant Jr. of Amsterdam, Kathleen Michael Reynolds of Albany, Jeffrey Linda Bryant of Amsterdam , Kimberly Randy Hills of Ft. Johnson, Juanita Hugh Matthews of Indian Lake and Frank Regina Bryant of Westerlo, Seven grandchildren; Robert & Kelly Reynolds, Gina, Shannon and Janae Bryant, and Cody and Casey Hills; brothers; Milton Florence Bryant of Pattersonville and Terry Claire Bryant of Jensen Beach, Fla., an uncle, aunts, nieces , nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, his brother Wayne Bryant predeceased him. Services are Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Church. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Johnson with military honors. Calling hours are Monday from 3-7 pm at the funeral home.
