Obituary of Ella Mae Colby
Ella Mae Colby, 79, of Cemetery Street. Fonda passed away Sunday morning January 20, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, NY after a short illness. She was born in the Town of Charleston, NY January 23, 1928.The daughter of the late Garfield and Margaret Vosburgh Hazzard. She currently was a patient at the Fulton County Infirmary since December. She lived most of her life in Fultonville.
Ella Mae attended schools in Charleston, then moving to Fultonville in her youth and was a home maker. She lived in Fonda for the past five years. For sixty years she was an AVON representative, loved playing cards and bingo. Ella was of the Protestant faith; and member of the Reed Barrett VFW of Post 562 Auxiliary and a past member of the Aetna Engine Co. Auxiliary.
She was married to Robert Colby on December 26, 1953; he passed away October 2, 1999.
Ella Mae is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Fish and companion James Brownell of Fonda; former son in law Robert Fish of Tribes Hill, NY; her brother, Everett Hazzard of Sprakers, NY; a grandson, Robert Fish and wife Lora of Windsor, NY; and one granddaughter, Brandi Williams and husband Charles of Fonda, NY; and her two great grandchildren, Dakota and Dylan Fish of Windsor, NY.
Funeral services will be held on her birthday Wednesday January 23, 2008 at 11 am, at the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY. Reverend Nancy Pullen officiating. Burial will take place at Maple Avenue Cemetery, in Fultonville, NY. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Ella Mae's memory to The American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square Albany, NY 12205.
