Obituary of Jorge Ivan Rivera

Jorge Ivan Rivera, 54, of Amsterdam NY, has gone to his eternal rest on Saturday January 21st, 2017. Born on April 7th, 1962, in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of Julia Perez and Jose Luis Rivera. Jorge attended schools in Puerto Rico and married the love of his life Agueda Rodriguez on April 28th, 2007. He relocated to the area in August of 2008 with his family. Jorge spent time working as a painter for Brenton Industries on Edson Street in Amsterdam, NY. He was actively involved in his church and often organized events for the Tabernáculo De Restauración y Salvación Inc. located on Broadway Street in Schenectady NY. Jorge was an excellent father, husband, and friend. He enjoyed serving others and was extremely kind and caring. He enjoyed cooking for his family and loved to detail his car while listening to Christian music. Jorge enjoyed many things but nothing more than being around his family. He will be deeply missed. Jorge is survived by his beloved wife Agueda Rodriguez; his daughters, Carmen Delia, Waleska Rivera, Von Marie Rivera, Gladyeliz Troche, and Naydeliz Rivera; his sons, Jorge Ivan Rivera, Christian Rivera, Lionel Rivera, Jorge Ivan Rivera Jr., and José Ivan Rivera; his parents Julia Perez and Jose Luis Rivera; his sisters, Santa Bonano, Carmen Rosa Rivera, Rosa Perez, and Carmen Lidia Fuentes; his brothers, Jose Rivera and Miguel Fuentes; and his 11 grandchildren. Many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Jorge is predeceased by his sister Lucy Perez. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 27th,2017 at 1pm at Betz, Rossi, & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Interment will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery, 272 Upper Steadwell Avenue, Amsterdam, NY. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made to the family to help set up a trust for his children.
