Obituary of David J. Szala

David J. Szala age 69 yrs. of Amsterdam passed away February 15, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Amsterdam on August 2, 1948, and is the son of the late John, and Gertrude (Saj) Szala. He is survived by four daughters Robin (Guy) Waldron, Nancy (Robert Jr.) Szczepanik, Michelle(Duane) Szala-Bramer, and Traci (Eric) Hendricks all of Amsterdam. His grandchildren Kourtnie & Brittani DePalma, Sydney Szczepanik, David & Hunter Hendricks. David is also survived by his sisters, and brother Christine Zugzda, Thomas Szala, Diane (Les) Bramer, and a god daughter Suzanne Jager. And also by nieces cousins and greatnieces. Besides his parents, and his late wife Naomi A. Szala who passed away November 8, 2017, David was predeceased by a brother in law Rich Zugzda. Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010, on Tuesday February 20, 2018 from 4 to 6:30 PM. Directly after the calling hours the Szala family would like to invite everyone to the Town of Florida Town Hall, 167 Fort Hunter Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010 for a time of fellowship. During his lifetime David proudly served his country from 1968 to 1971 in the United States Army. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, and looked forward to the family trips to Atlantic City, and Myrtle Beach. He was an avid supporter of his granddaughters softball games.
