Obituary of Jane Zuckerwar

Jane Zuckerwar, 91, passed away Monday, February 18, 2008 at her residence in Palm Beach, Florida. She was born November 18, 1916, the daughter of Joseph and Miriam Steinfeld in New York City. Jane was a resident of Gloversville for seventy-two years. She married Richard C. Zuckerwar April 15, 1935. They began spending their winters in Florida until relocating fifteen years ago. Richard passed away in 1999. She enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life. Earlier in her life, Jane helped run the family business, The Grandoe Corporation, located in Gloversville. She traveled extensively, helped with designs and entertained clients. She was a founding member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of both the Century Club and Pine Brook Country Club. She was also a Saratoga Racing enthusiast. Survivors include a son, Richard J. Zuckerwar of Gloversville, four grandchildren: Kent Ilene Friedman of Saratoga, Eric Lori Friedman of Saratoga, Richard A. Zuckerwar of Saratoga and Margaux David Pierce of Gloversville; six great-grandchildren: Ashley Friedman, Roxy Friedman, Samantha Friedman, Hope Friedman, Rachel Friedman and Sawyer Pierce; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Rita and Charles Ross of Gloversville. In addition to her husband, Jane was predeceased by her daughter, Carol Zuckerwar and a brother, Joseph Steinfeld. Services will be held Thursday, February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Knesseth Israel Synagogue, 34 East Main Street in Gloversville with the Rabbi Martin Gordon officiating. Interment will be at the Knesseth Israel Cemetery in Gloversville. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary, 99 East Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078.
