Obituary of Grace L. Blair
Grace L. Blair, 75, of Franklin Street, passed away Wednesday at
St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born December 22, 1932, in Stone Ridge, New York RD Fultonville, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Luella Hoffman Carpenter. She was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Fultonville High School.
Grace was employed at one time at the Premier Glove Company in Fultonville and the Templeton Glove Factory in Fonda, retiring several years ago.
She was a former member of the Fultonville Eastern Star and was of the Reformed faith.
Grace loved spending time with her grandchildren, was family oriented, enjoyed camping with her family, reading romance books, playing cards and attending auto shows and flea markets.
On June 30, 1956, she married William E. Blair, besides her husband survivors include a son Billy Blair Robin of Fonda, two daughters Kimberly Nethaway Wilson of Fultonville and Karen Wittemeyer Mark Hoffman of Fonda; two brothers, Edward Carpenter of Seffner, FL and Jack Carpenter of Warner Robbins, GA ; two sisters Helen Quackenbush of Hammondsport, NY and Phyllis Calkins of Fultonville; seven grandchildren, Jolene, Elina, Josh, Nikki, Anna, Travis, and Tori; two great grandchildren, Connor and Genevieve and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Grace was predeceased by a daughter Kathy Niemietz who passed away in 2002 and a granddaughter Jennifer Nethaway who passed away in 1987. She was also predeceased by two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11 am at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with Christopher Hamm officiating. Burial will take place in spring at the Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
