Obituary of Jose Oquendo
Jose Oquendo, 46, of Division Street, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening at St. Mary's Hospital from complications due to diabetes.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 4, 1962, he was the only son of Aurea Torres and the late Victor Oquendo. Educated in Brooklyn, Jose moved to this area twenty five years ago where he has since resided.
He was employed as a recruiter for the Fulmont Development's WIC program and later for Attorney Norberta Krupczak as a paralegal . He retired five years ago due to his disability. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and was proud of his many Godchildren.
He leaves his mother, Aurea, of Amsterdam; sisters; Lillian Torres and Mayra Leon both of Amsterdam; dear nieces and nephews; Jessica, Miguel Jr., Daisy, Gabriel, Yomayra, Rosana, Thalia, Destiny and Reynaldo Jr.; a special great nephew Emmanuel, dear friends; Joey Rivera, Estaban Ressey, Rossi Sanders, Omie and Canito.
Services are Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Pastor Carlos Schmidt officiating. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home office.
