Obituary of Lucille J. Kruger

Lucille Jean Davis Kruger, 88, of Auriesville Rd., Fultonville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 4, 2008. Lucille was born on June 11, 1919 in Lyndonville, VT. She was the oldest daughter of Earl Morton & Winifred May Rash Davis. Lucille attended the Lyndon Institute, in Vermont and graduated in 1938. After graduation she spent a short time working in Springfield, Massachusetts and then moved to Amsterdam, NY where she met her husband. Lucille married Arthur Foss Kruger on February 12, 1942 at her father's home in Springfield, Massachusetts. Arthur and Lucille began their married life in Amsterdam, NY. Shortly after they were married, Arthur joined the United States Army. Lucille joined Arthur at Freeman Field, in Seymour, Indiana in 1943. During this time, Lucille served her Country by packing parachutes for the troops overseas. Their first child Linda was born while they were stationed at Freeman Field. Art finally received orders to Burma, India, where he served during WWII. During this time Lucille and Linda returned to Amsterdam. When Art returned from overseas, the family settled in Fultonville, NY. They resided on Auriesville Road for over 60 years. Their second child David was born in 1950. Lucille worked for many years at the dry cleaners in Fultonville, and eventually retired from the White Mop Wringer Company of Fultonville. Lucille lead a beautiful and active life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She loved her family, and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lucille belonged to the Montgomery County Home Bureau. She loved camping with her friends and family, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, and reading, but her greatest joy was crocheting. The family asks that she be remembered for her passion for life, for her love of family and for her valiant fight against ovarian cancer at the end of her life. Lucille is survived by her proudest accomplishments, daughter, Linda Gray; son, David Kruger Brenda; Granddaughters, Susan Gray Denton Scott, Kelly Kruger Morgan Ned, Wendy Kruger, Stacy Kruger Tucker Daniel, and Kristy Kruger. Great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Kelsey Denton and Robert Kruger. She is also survived by one brother, Earl Davis Helene of Alburqerque, NM and one sister, Geri Van Der Veer of Johnstown, NY. She was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Davis. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 8, 2008 at 11:00A.M. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY with the Rev. Norm Hamm presiding. Interment will be in the spring in Maple Ave Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday March 7, 2008 from 4:00 to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, Manny Corners Rd, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Mt. Loretto Nursing Home, Swart Hill Rd. Amsterdam, NY 12010.
