Obituary of Ilene Mary Covey
Ilene Mary Covey, 83, of Slater Street, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Amsterdam on May 1, 1924 a daughter of the late Charles and Mabel Griswald Juedes.
Ilene was raised and attended schools in the Amsterdam area. She was of Lutheran faith and was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. She was also a member of the John Wyszomirski V.F.W. Post #701 Auxiliary in Amsterdam. Ilene married Rolin Myron Covey on July 25, 1942. He predeceased her on January 9, 2005.
Ilene's loving family includes her sons, Chris Renee Covey of Schenectady, Frank L. Donna Covey of Amsterdam, and Michael Covey of Broadalbin, her daughters, Linda Oscar Porath of Amsterdam, and Rebecca Earl Brown of Gloversville, her twin sister, Irene Richard Koch of Amsterdam, her sister-in-law, Alice Robert Jordan of Broadalbin, and a special niece, Anne Musgrave of Amsterdam. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Ilene was predeceased by a son, Clifford Covey in 1991, and two grandchildren, Kevin Porath in 1996 and Rolinda Porath in 1994.
A private Prayer Service will take place in the spring at Greenhill Cemetery in Amsterdam. Contributions in Ilene's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
