Obituary of Eleanor B. Lang
Mrs. Eleanor B. Lang, 86, formerly of Wilkes Avenue, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F. Born on May 30, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Danforth and Mary Barkley.
A lifelong area resident, Eleanor graduated form St. Mary's Institute in 1939. She then attended Katherine Gibbs Business School in Rhode Island. Eleanor was employed as a bookkeeper for Key Bank for 20 years, retiring in 1983. During WWII she lived in Springfield and worked for the American Red Cross.
On October 14, 1944, she was united in marriage to John J. Lang Jr. That union lasted 29 years until his passing on December 5, 1973. She was also predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Shuttleworth and husband Clayton and Joyce Wallin; a son in law, James Anderson; and a nephew, John B. Shuttleworth.
Her loving family includes her children, Mary "Penny" Anderson of Amsterdam, John "Jack" Lang III and his wife Latefa of Schenectady, Patricia Mroczka and her husband Steven of Amsterdam; six grandchildren, Jason Anderson, Christy Anderson, Aaron Lang and his wife Nicole, Joseph Mroczka and his wife Tammy, Kathleen Mroczka, Rebecca Mroczka; two great grandson's, Taylor and Daniel; and close relatives, Lynne Shuttleworth and Joe Wallin.
A prayer service will be conducted on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 10a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held today Friday evening from 5 until 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to St. Mary's Church.
