Obituary of Chester J. Blonkowski
Mr. Chester J. Blonkowski, 80, of Sanford Avenue, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born on October 1, 1927 he was the son of the late Barney and Mary Bubniak Blonkowski.
A lifelong area resident Chester attended Amsterdam schools and joined with The United States Navy in 1945. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked as a weaver for Mohasco. He then went on to work at the Chevron Service Center on the NYS Thurway, and later for Salisbury Chevrolet, retiring as a service technician in 1989.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Charlotte Ulrich whom he married on April 22, 1961; his children, Alexander "Skip" Beauchamp and his wife Elaine of Amsterdam, NY, Chester J. Blonkowski Jr. and his wife Mary of East Nassau, NY, Eugene Blonkowski and his wife Bonnie of Greenwich, NY and Dawn Ralbovsky and her husband Michael of Gloversville, NY; a son in law, William Humphrey; four grandchildren, Shawn Humphrey, Lori Humphrey, Thea Beauchamp and Douglas Beauchamp and his wife Heather; one great granddaughter, Chloe Beauchamp; and one nephew, Richard Karwan.
Mr. Blonkowski was predeceased by his sister Cecilia Karwan.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 10 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home with the Rev. William T. Hodgetts Jr. presiding. Interment will take place at a later date in Green Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held this evening Wednesday from 4 until 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Organ Fund or to Community Hospice of Amsterdam.
