Obituary of Arthur R. Prew

Mr. Arthur R. Prew, Sr; age 76, died Saturday evening, March 15, 2008 at his home in Gloversville following a short illness. He was born November 6, 1931 in Fishhouse, Town of Northampton, the son of the late Nelson and Sarah Lepierre Prew. He was educated in Broadalbin schools and later served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 in Germany. Arthur was employed at Taylor Made Products for 21 years, then at Lee Dye Company for 10 years, and retired from Amsterdam Printing and Litho after 17 years of service there. Mr. Prew was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding. He was married on March 21, 1953 to Laura Powers who survives. Also surviving are four children, Susan L. Hollenbeck Randy of Johnstown, Karen L. Dempsey Bob of Napolean, MO; Arthur R. Prew, Jr. Eileen of Gloversville and Charles N. Prew of Gloversville; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his three brothers Nelson, Ralph and James Prew. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
