Obituary of Melba Baker

Mrs. Melba Baker, 76, formerly of the Town of Florida, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. A lifelong area resident, she was born on August 7, 1931 the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine Vunk Campbell. She attended local schools and was a homemaker most of her life. She was a gentle soul who will be missed by all who knew her. She loved life, her husband and her dog Pee Wee. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Adlai "Beans" Campbell. Survivors include her husband of nearly fifty years, Ralph Baker, whom she married on June 28, 1958, several brother in laws, extended family and friends. Services will be offered on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 6 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Burke of Family Bible Church presiding. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 until 6 Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Chuctanunda Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department, 6252 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
