Obituary of Angel Gonzalez

Angel L. Gonzalez, 58, of Leffert Street, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 30, 2008 at the home of his sister in Guilderland. He was born in Santurze, Puerto Rico on October 11, 1949 a son of Justina Rivera and the late Angel Gonzalez. At a young age, Angel moved to the Bronx with his family where he was raised and attended schools. He then relocated to the upstate area where he eventually settled in Amsterdam. Angel was a talented auto mechanic who had his own business in Amsterdam, AG Auto Sales, on West Main Street. Angel was a very faithful Christian, having been a past attendant at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Amsterdam. His family and his faith always played a major role in his life. He enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting and spending lots of time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He always looked forward to traveling up to the Adirondacks and enjoying the country serenity in Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. In addition to his father, Angel was predeceased by his spouse, Mary Ann Thatcher. His loving family includes his mother, Justina Rivera of Arizona, six children, Tina Gonzalez, Elena Gonzalez, Mary Thatcher, Rebecca Petrovic, Lori Thatcher and Mike Macaluso, seven grandchildren, Raechelle, Paul, Sergio, Kristen, Kandice, Christian and Benjamin, and four sisters, Carmen Vazquez, Raquel Sanchez, Ana E. Gonzalez and Ivette Hardy. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services will be at 1:00PM on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
