Obituary of Leona P. Matelski

Mrs. Leona P. Matelski, age 84 of Gloversville, died Monday morning, April 14, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a brief illness. She was born May 18, 1923 in Gloversville, and lived in New Jersey until returning here several years ago. She worked in New Jersey as a factory worker, and was a member of Faith Chapel in New Jersey. Leona was married to Zygmund Matelski who died January 21, 2004. She is survived by two children, Marcus Van Slyke of Gloversville and Marilyn Jaquay of Johnstown; her daughter-in -law, Patti Van Slyke of Mayfield; a niece, Malvina Duane of New Jersey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Morris Van Slyke. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16th at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, with the Rev. Fred Allen of New Jersey officiating. Cremation will follow at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
