Obituary of Orman F. Waddle
Mr. Orman "Wally" Waddle, 78 of Gloversville, died April 16, 2008 at the Stratton Veterans Administration Hospital in Albany. Mr. Waddle was born January 15, 1930 in Albany, Oregon. He was the son of the late Don and Arvilla Harrison Waddle.
Early in his life, Mr. Waddle worked in farming and highway construction. Serving in the Air Force from 1950 to 1971, he retired as a Master Sgt. He was a quality control inspector for electronic equipment. A member of the Inspector General's Strategic Air Command Team, he was deployed throughout the world. "Wally" as he was known, was also a designer and built portable command post trailers for military operations.
Mr. Waddle had been also employed by GTE for many years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Deschuts County Oregon, Sheriff's organization for search and rescue. His many other interests include; camping, fishing and country music. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed rodeo shows. He was a member of the NRA and instructor of young adult rifle teams. Mr. Waddle was an accomplished Avon sales representative for more than 30 years.
A devoted loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Becker Waddle of Gloversville whom he married January 1, 1952. He is also survived by his children; Stanley Waddle Ruth of Caroga Lake and Pamela Lemke Dean of Aberdeen, N.C. He is also survived by a sister; Yvonne Cook Dennis of Salem, Oregon, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, three great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Additional survivors include an uncle, Dale Harrison of Lebanon, Oregon and two aunts, Doris Calvert of Eugene, Oregon and Iola Allen Jean of Lebanon, Oregon.
Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service with military honors will be held 9 am Thursday at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Inurnment in the wall columbarium niche will follow the service. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave. Gloversville.
