Obituary of Marion B. Yeates

Marion B. Yeates, 83, of Gloversville, passed away Friday April 18, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Gloversville on December 11, 1924 the daughter of Ernest W. and Edith Shaffer Brown. Marion was a lifelong resident of Gloversville. She was very active in her church, Foothills United Methodist Church in Gloversville. She loved to knit and bake. For over forty years she enjoyed playing in the Card Club. Her favorite team was the Mets and she also liked Syracuse Football and Basketball. Most of all, Marion loved her family. On June 6, 1959 Marion married Donald E. Yeates. They enjoyed nearly forty years together until he passed away in 1997. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: Douglas C. and Sherrie A. Yeates of Chesapeake, VA and Jeffrey E. and Paula L. Yeates of Syracuse; a step-son, David C. Yeates of Fullerton, CA; eight grandchildren: Nicole, Ryan, Christian, Avery, Jack, Jill, Michael and Amanda and two great-grandchildren, Jenna and Jaden. Calling hours will be Monday April 21 from 4 to 7 pm at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home in Gloversville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 am from Foothills United Methodist Church in Gloversville with the Rev. Cynthia Van Allen officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Foothills United Methodist Church, 17 Fremont St., Gloversville, NY 12078 or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
