Obituary of Mary Lou Bien
Mary Lou Bien, 64, of Midline Road, passed away Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
Born June 20, 1943 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of the late Roman and Sophie Prokop. She was raised in Broadalbin and was a graduate of the Broadalbin High School. Mary Lou moved to Amsterdam in 1971 where she has since lived.
Mary Lou was employed at Universal Records in Gloversville for over 30 years until in retiring in 2005.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In 1971, she married Thadeus Bien who passed away in 1996, Mary Lou was also predeceased by a step son Gary Bien who passed away in 2004 and a sister Alice Blake who passed away in 2000.
Survivors include a daughter Allison Vedder and her husband Darby of Amsterdam; a step daughter Karen Robilotto of Schenectady; two brothers George Prokop and her twin brother Ed Prokop both of Broadalbin; a sister Joan Frament of Galway; four grandchildren Rikki Robilotto, Thomas Aldi, Savannah Vedder and Keegan Vedder; great grandson Jonathan Clute; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:15 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:15 am at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY. Burial will take place in St. John's Cemetery in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 - 7 pm at the funeral home.
