Obituary of Stanley L. Showerman
Stanley "Leo" Showerman, 70, of State Highway 5s, died peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born on May 10, 1938 in the Town of Minden, he was the son of the late Ralph and Irene Smith Showerman.
A lifelong resident of Fort Plain, Leo was educated locally. For a time he ran the Sportsman Snack Bar in Fort Plain before becoming a self employed carpenter. He also helped with the local farmer's market. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his family dearly, and will be missed by all who knew him.
His loving family includes, his wife of over 40 years, Carol Billings Showerman; two daughters, Stacey Showerman Klemm and her husband Frank and Theresa Marie Quackenbush and her husband Mark; three sisters, Alice Frederick, Robin Crews and Terry Arduini and her husband Frank; two brothers, Ralph and Gerald Showerman; three grandchildren, Jeremy, Timothy and Tiffany Snell; one great granddaughter, Kiara; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Gathering for a Time of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 1 until 3 at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
