Obituary of Jerry A. Robusto
Jerry A. Robusto, 88 of Kunz Road, Broadalbin, passed away Monday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital with his beloved companion at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on March 3, 1920, he was the son of the late Aniello and Michelina Pucci Robusto. Educated locally , he entered the US Navy and served during World War II. Trained as a mechanic, he serviced US fighter planes. That trade followed him his entire life, as Jerry loved to build and was a talented carpenter, plumber and mechanic. He was always ready to help any one who needed his expertise. He moved to the Albany area and began a long career with the Hamilton News in Glenmont. Even after he retired, Jerry continued to assist the newspaper whenever he needed to. He returned to this area twenty years ago. He was of the Roman Catholic faith, and was a member in Albany of St. Margaret Mary's Church. He was a member of the James T. Bergen Post and the CWA Local Union Of Albany.
His wife, the former Margaret McGibbon predeceased him on January 28, 1992. In addition to his wife and parents, a sister, Rosalyn Murphy, and a brother, Ralph Robusto also predeceased him.
Jerry leaves his dear companion, Yolanda Greco Crady of Broadalbin; his sons; Jerry Kathy Robusto of Charlotte, N.C., John Robusto of Ballston Spa., David Kathy Robusto of Los Banos, Ca., and Tim Robusto of Broadalbin; grandchildren; Chris, Brian, Nathan, Gary and Amy; four great grandchildren; his sister, Rita Frank Mucilli of Amsterdam; brothers; Alfred Lena Robusto of Amsterdam and Richard Margie Robusto of Las Vegas; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be offered by Fr. Victor Polito on Thursday at 11:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call today from 5-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson. Contributions may be made in Jerry's name to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps. in care of the funeral home.
