Obituary of George A. Goodspeed

George A. Goodspeed, 81, of Sweetman Road, Charlton, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the River Ridge Living Center. Born on December 28, 1926 in Granville, NY he was the son of the late Roy and Jeanette Kidden Goodspeed. A resident of the area since 1944, he was educated in Vermont and he worked on the family farm for many years. He was employed for D&H Railroad in Schenectady until his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His family includes his four brothers, Lynn Goodspeed of Ft. Johnson, Seth Goodspeed of Eljay, Georgia, Wilbur Goodspeed of Nassau, NY, Kenneth Goodspeed of Troy, NY; five sisters, Alice Zukas of Schenectady, Mary Richardson of Pontiac, MI, Sarah Jane Watroba of Ft. Johnson, Muriel Goodspeed of Ft. Johnson and Kathryn Harvell of Greensboro, NC; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 11 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, where arrangements have been entrusted. Interment will follow in the Sweetman Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
