Obituary of Isabelle S. Hayes

Isabelle S. Hayes, formerly of Amsterdam, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 2, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital. A lifelong area resident, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Filomena Jankunas Sargalis. She attended schools in Amsterdam and later attended Oneonta Teachers College. Mrs. Hayes was employed as an elementary teacher for the Greater Amsterdam School District for many years. She was a member of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her husband and by her siblings, Peter Sargalis, MaryAnn Hartley, Genevieve Sargalis and Ida Boice. Survivors include a sister-in-law Charlotte Sargalis and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass which will be offered on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 11:00a.m. at St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Mickiewicz as celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 206 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
