I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Clarke's passing, he was my homeroom teacher, and history teacher back in the 60's. He played an important role in my life, he would call my grandmother and they would discuss various aspects of my life at Mayfield High. He was by far more then a teacher, he was a friend. Handsome and dapper appearing each morning. I remember when I was transferred to Gloversville High, going to his home and talking to him about my adjustment. He will always be remember as a great man to me.

Mr. Clarke changed the way many of us in the Mayfield High School Class of 1977 viewed world history and its affect on social norms, perceived values, and the dynamic nuances of our high school days!
I remember we thought Mr. Clarke was suave, had swagger, and made events come to life through descriptive storytelling when teaching. I know I could be a "phone a friend" on the subject of the Ming Dynasty and its delicate, yet highly artistic vases! Thanks, Sir!
I am proud to be an alumna of Mayfield Central High School. For a small town, our teachers, like Mr. Clarke, instilled in their students the capacity to dream BIG!

He was the best teacher I had in high school, 9th grade history. I was not fond of history at all but his class was great. He had a way of holding your interest and a wonderful personality as well. I was privileged to have served as Mr. Clarke's student assistant for his first four years at MCS, and have always appreciated the grace, quick wit and intellect with which he taught. There are some teachers we will always remember and admire. Mr. Clarke was certainly one of them. My only regret is not having had the opportunity to share this directly with him. My deepest condolences to his family at this sad time.

Mr. Clarke taught my 9th Grade Social Studies Class and homeroom. He liked to keep the class lively and to tell jokes and keep us on our toes. Years after graduating I saw him at the grocery store with my family and with only a small hint he recalled who I was. As a 33 year teacher myself now, I know how difficult that can be!!
