Obituary of Robert Alan Regan

Robert Alan Regan, 83, died Monday, June 9, 2008 at Albany Medical Center. Robert was born November 23, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late John and Genevieve Langdon Regan. He was educated in Union City, New Jersey. Mr. Regan served his country during WWII in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was employed by Hermann Lowenstein Leather, Inc. in Johnstown for forty years where he worked as a production supervisor until retiring in 1986. He married Marguerite Felker on June 24, 1951 in Amsterdam, New York. In his early years, he was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and golf and hiking the trails in the Adirondacks. In his later years, he was an avid reader- especially well versed in history and dates; he also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and meeting with his veterans' group at the Gloversville Senior Center. His wife "Peggy" and his many friends truly enriched his life; he will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife, Marguerite Regan of Gloversville, survivors include two sisters: Joan Sarno Louis of Point Pleasant, NJ and Gloria McCarthy Raymond of Lititz, PA, a sister-in-law Clare Felker, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Reverend R.W. Williams presiding. In addition to Reverend Williams, friends and family may also contribute to the fellowship of the eulogy, sharing their life experiences with Robert. Interment will follow at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors at 1:30 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church Street, Gloversville, NY 12078 or to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
