Obituary of Jeannine Bon Mama Moureau
Jeannine "Bon Mama" Moureau, 81, of School Street, Broadalbin passed away Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
She was born February 12, 1927 in Acel Brussels, Belgium; she was the daughter of the late Marriette and David Moureau. She attended schools in Belgium before moving to the United States in 1948.
She lived for a short time in Ft. Johnson before moving to Broadalbin where she has since lived. Jeannine was first employed by Albany Memorial Hospital and Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville for a short time before being a full time homemaker and raising her family. Jeannine was everyone's mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren who she deeply loved. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a son, David Field and his wife Cecilia Hazzard, of Stratford, New York; a daughter, Cherie Lee Simonds of Lasselsville, New York; two sisters, Rachel and Arllette; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was predeceased by a son, Jack Vandenabelle, who passed away in 1987.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin, New York. There will be no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation for the Pediatrics Unit, 427 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York 12010.
