Obituary of Margaret Bonafede

Margaret "Peggy" E. Bonafede, 75, of Pleasant Avenue, passed away Monday morning at the Mountain Valley Hospice Home in Gloversville with her loving family at her side. Born March 26, 1933 in Wells, New York, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Theresa Savage Bradt. She was a graduate of the Wells High School and moved to Amsterdam in 1956. Peggy was employed at the Breton Industries of Amsterdam for a number of years. She bowled for many years for the Breton's Bowling Team. She loved to play cards especially Rummy and was a huge Yankee's fan. Peggy had an abundance of friends and everyone who met her loved her. She attended St. Michael the Arch Angel Roman Catholic Church. On September 15, 1956 she married David J. Bonafede who passed away July 17, 2006. She was also predeceased by two brothers, George Bradt and Charles Bradt; and two sisters Edith Abrams and Irene Savage. Survivors include her loving family, two sons, Thomas A. Bonafede and his wife Nancy of Fonda and William D. Bonafede and his wife Melissa of Amsterdam; a daughter, Karen Dearborn of Queensbury; seven grandchildren, John Leduc, Jeremy Leduc, Tamara Pierce, Jason Leduc, Tracy Lewandowski, Michael Bonafede and Heather Dearborn; One God-daughter; Monica Miller of Ohio, ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Marty DeRose officiating. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery in Amsterdam. The calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. A Legacy Candle Ceremony will be held on Wednesday evening at 6:45 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to the Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corners Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010 and to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, New York 12078
