Obituary of Valerie Ann Mott

Valerie Ann Mott, 62 of Mergner Road, Ft. Johnson, passed away peacefully Friday evening at her home with her loving family at her side. Born on January 27, 1946 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Frances Wiklund Coons and the late William E. Coons. She was a graduate of Colonie High School and lived in the area most of her life. Valerie was employed by Glen travel, later the Travel Centers of America in Fultonville for seven years and was of the Roman Catholic faith. She proudly served as a foster parent for many years and mostly enjoyed baby sitting with her own grandchildren, spending time with her entire family at home. Valerie loved the out doors and working crossword puzzles. On July 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to Paul R. Mott. In addition to her beloved husband, she leaves her mother, Frances Coons of Schenectady; her children; Robert E. Mott of Randall, NY; Paula L. Gonzales of Mayfield, Lori M. and Amanda R. Mott of Fort Johnson; brothers; William Coons of Schenectady, and Frank Coons of Amsterdam; sisters; Ginny Svoboda of Ballston Spa., Susan Pantusco and Linda Thatcher both of Schenectady; grandchildren; Diahanna, Jeno, Johnny, Anthony, Bobby and Madeline; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will take place Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam or the American Cancer Society both in care of the funeral home office.
