Obituary of Raymond G. Hill

Mr. Raymond G. Hill, Jr., 74, of Gloversville, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Ellis Hospital. Mr. Hill was born February 8, 1934 in Gloversville, the son of the late Raymond G. and Carrie Havalick Hill, Sr. He was educated in Gloversville schools and employed for many years at Faberge as a production manager in Richfield, NJ. He returned to the area in 1982 and was employed at Coleco Industries, retiring in the 1990's. Mr. Hill served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VFW Post 2077 in Gloversville. Ray loved music and was an accomplished guitar player as well as the banjo and harmonica. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Johnson Hill in 1997. He is survived by four daughters: Debra Ackerbauer of Johnstown, Kathy Darling, Paula Cranker and Susan Hill, all of Gloversville and two sons: Raymond G. Hill III of Broadalbin and Ernest J. Hill of Gloversville. He is also survived by a sister Colleen Gallup of Mayfield, thirteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mr. Hill was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon Klingbeil and a sister, Marilyn Volbary. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-3 pm Saturday, July 5, 2008 at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematorium, Schenectady.
