Stephen E. Tedesco, age 77, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, February 9, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam. He was born June 9, 1939 in Newport, RI. He was the son of the late Andrew Tedesco and the late Lillian Dory Tedesco. At the age of 5, his family relocated to Gloversville, NY. In his youth, Steve won several athletic awards as a member of the YMCA. He was a member of the Class of '57 at Gloversville High School, being voted "Best Dancer" by his class. He entered the Submarine Division of the US Navy for 4 years, and married his love Cherie Stearns in 1961. Steve sold insurance, was a credit manager at Firestone, worked at Capital Finance, and held positions at several leather mills until he retired when he became an amputee after an industrial accident in 1986. Steve enjoyed sports, including baseball, fishing and bowling, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Eastern Amputee Golf Association and won numerous tournament awards. He also enjoyed traveling and cruising. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family who affectionately called him "Beeba". Steve received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1979. As a licensed minister, an associate pastor and a founding member of Believer's Family Church, Steve was always passionate about studying and sharing God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. He touched the lives of many, led countless others to receive Jesus, and was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
