Obituary of Daniel B. Slosek
Daniel B. Slosek, 67, of Perth Road, passed away late Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph's Hospital And Health Center, Syracuse, with his family at his side.
Born in Amsterdam on September 8, 1940, he was the son of the late John and Sadie Ochal Slosek. A 1958 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Dan continued his education with IBM in Conn. He later began a thirty two year career with Sonoco Paper Products and retired ten years ago as shift supervisor. Dan was a loving family man and was devoted to his wife of nearly forty years, his children and now his grandchildren. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting, camping and boating. He also could be found tending his beloved garden, even this year as his health failed. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Roman Catholic Church.
His loving family includes his wife, Linda J. Barrera Slosek; children;
Daniel Leigh "D.J." Slosek of Crestwood, Ky., Steven Sarah Slosek of Clifton Park, Shannon Mike King of Saratoga Springs, Lauri Slosek and Kelly Chevalier both of Scotia; grandchildren; Zachary, Abigail and Benjamin Slosek; Hannah, Michael, and twins Madison and Morgan King; an aunt; Phyllis Kruczynski of Amsterdam as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. His brother, Richard Slosek predeceased him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass which will be offered Monday at 10:00 am at St. Stanislaus' Church. Fr. David Mickiewicz, celebrant. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family at St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, where the Legacy Candle Ceremony will take place at 4:45pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dan's name to the Helping Hands School in care of the funeral home office
