Obituary of Frances Wilkins

Mrs. Frances Wilkins, age 71 of Gloversville, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. She was born January 24, 1937 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Chester Sr. and Ila Lawrence Frye. She attended Gloversville schools, and was employed at the Johnstown Knitting Mill and also at Lumex Medical Products until her retirement. Fran loved her pet dog Precious, her birds Littlebit, Sweetiepie and Fred. She also collected knickknacks of cats. She is survived by a son, John E. Brockhum of Gloversville; three stepchildren, Edward Brockhum Jr. of Gloversville, Irene Tyrell and Sam Wilkins; four sisters, Patricia Putman of Fonda, Nadine Morrison of Gloversville, Esther May of Aztec, NM and Laura Carpenter of Gloversville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Edward Brockhum Sr. and Samuel Wilkins; her son, Guy Chester Wilkins; her sister, Minnie Honeywell; her brothers, Chester Frye Jr; Andrew Frye Sr; Merrill Frye Sr. and Donald Frye. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown, with the Rev. Dr. R. W. Williams officiating.
