Obituary of Salvatore Morreale

Salvatore "Sal" Morreale, passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the age of seventy five. Born in Amsterdam on June 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Santo and Lena Staczy Morreale. He was educated locally. Sal lived in the Binghamton area for a number of years and was employed as an electronic technician for the US Postal Service there until he retired in 1995. He shared his time between Binghamton and Amsterdam and was fortunate to have many loving family and friends in both places. From 1952 to 1956 he proudly served his country in the US Navy. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion both in Binghamton. In later years, Sal drove a school bus for special events in that area. He loved traveling and spending his winters in Florida and Texas. Sal will always be remembered as happy go lucky, with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved to drive and was always happy to help someone in need with any task, and was happiest when he was in his garden. In Amsterdam, Sal was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, and in Binghamton, St. Christopher's Parish. At one time, Sal was a member of the Imperial Men's Bowling League. His first wife, the former Rose Marie Natoli predeceased him in 1999. His loving family includes his wife, Angela DePalma Hall; children; Robert Shirley Morreale of Livingston, Tenn., Sharon Robert Terry of Austin, Tx., Sandra Morreale of Houston, Tx. and Salvatore Morreale of Windermire, Fla.,; step children; Marianne Gary Mailen of Binghamton, Julianna Gary Johnston of Latham, Lisa Hall of Winterpark, Fla., Diane Hall Vincent Mautone of Amsterdam and Denise Hall Shawn Emery of Salt Lake City Utah, and the late Robert Hall; sister; Mary Lou Dominic Curro of Voorheesville; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, Alexandro Pezzino, Aiden Bickos, and Nevaeh Gaige; seven step grandchildren, an aunt, Josephine Kaminski, nieces, nephews and cousins. and his special pal Heide. A brother, Stephen Morreale, also predeceased him. Calling hours are Thursday from 3-6 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday 11:00 am at St. Christopher's Roman Catholic Church, Binghamton by Fr. Robert Ours. Interment with military honors will follow in Holy Spirit Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Community Hospice Of Amsterdam, in care of the funeral home office.
