Obituary of William J. Kucel
Mr. William J. Kucel, age 81, of Gloversville, died Saturday morning, August 2, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.
He was born September 30, 1926 in Gloversville, the son of the late Joseph and Frances Checoves Kucel. He served his country during World War II in the Philippines. He was employed by Lane Construction Company for several years, where he worked on much of the New York State Thruway construction. He later worked for many years at Wood & Hyde Leather Corporation in Gloversville until his retirement.
Mr. Kucel was of Catholic faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by two stepchildren, David Politsch Estela of Gloversville and Barbara Yanno of Florida; six brothers and sisters, Mary Dingman, Rose Teetz, Stanley Kucel Esther, John Kucel Marjorie and Edward M. Kucel of Gloversville, and Jessie Reali Carl of Massachusetts; six step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen M. Politsch Kucel who died October 1, 2004, also by five brothers and sisters, Florence Kucel, Bernie Miller, Genevieve Walther, Albert "Red" Kucel and Lawrence Kucel.
There will be no calling hours. A private Prayer Service will take place at the convenience of the family on Tuesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, with the Rev. Kenneth Swain officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
