Obituary of Richard A. White
Mr. Richard A. White, 56, of Gloversville, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday. He was born August 25, 1951 in Mayfield, son of the late Robert and Florence Van Natter White. Mr. White was educated in Mayfield schools and a life long area resident. In the early 1980s he owned the Stagecoach Bar in Mayfield. Recently, Richard had worked for Finkle Distributors, organizing products for daily routes. Most of his life he was produce manager for P&C Markets in various areas, retiring last year from the Cooperstown Store. Earlier in his life, Richard had also worked for Robison & Smith in Gloversville. He enjoyed hunting as a young man and was a long time NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr.
A devoted grandfather, he loved spending time with all his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Nadena Horton White of Gloversville, whom he married May 9, 1987. He leaves his daughter, Amy White and her fiancé Brian Frye of Gloversville; step-daughters: Stacey Updike and companion Fernando Crisafulli of Gloversville, Marie Craig Rice of Gloversville, Michelle Smith and companion Yevette York of Horseheads, NY and Erica Horton and fiancé Jason Sanders of Gloversville. Richard is also survived by his brothers: John Andrea White, Robert Mae White and Charles Pam White all of Gloversville. Additional survivors include twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, his mother-in-law Doris Horton of Gloversville and in-laws: Debbie and Doug Root of Gloversville, Robert L. Horton, Jr. of Pompano Beach, FL and Terry Robin Horton of Maine. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Arthur White.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Tuesday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. The family will receive friends Monday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.
