Obituary of Paul R. Cordone
Paul R. Cordone, Sr., 95, of Mayfield, died Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville.
Born in Gloversville on April 15, 1913, he was the son of Andrew and Rose Bonn Cordone.
He was married to Martha Rocklin. She predeceased him in 1997.
Mr. Cordone served his country as a Classification Specialist in the Army during WWII. He was educated in the Gloversville School system. He attended Pratt Institute and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. Paul was an artist/painter. He was the vice president of the family-owned Cordone's Distributing in Gloversville.
Mr. Cordone also was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul R. Cordone, Jr. and his wife Francine of Gloversville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Kaiser and her husband Robert of Amsterdam and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbarann Albanese, who died in July 2007. A brother, Eugene Cordone and a sister, Christine Hunt also died before him.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 8 from 4 to 7pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home in Gloversville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10am from Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak celebrating. Entombment in the family mausoleum will be in Ferndale Cemetery in Johnstown with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
