Obituary of Elizabeth G. Thompson

Elizabeth G. "Betty" Thompson, 87, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women in Amsterdam. Born on August 25, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Miller Russell. She was an area resident for many years and was a graduate of Johnstown High School. Betty along with her husband made their home and raised their family in Johnstown and New Milford, CT before retiring to Wells, NY. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Thompson in 1987 and all of her brothers. Her loving family includes, her daughters, Susan Lynn and her husband William of Sharon, CT and Catherine Bush of Williams, AZ; five granddaughters, Sara Schaefer of Pipersville, PA, Amy Tuck of Saratoga Springs, Melissa Bush, of Broadalbin Rebecca Lynn of New York City, Michele Bush of Mesa, AZ; three great grandchildren, Devon, Samantha, Olivia; and several nieces, nephews. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 9 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. A reception will immediately follow at the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women. Interment will take place in the Algonquin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sarah Jane Sanford Home for Women, 69 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to Community Hospice, 246 Manny's Corner Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
