Obituary of Irene Fisher

Irene E. "Betty" Fisher (nee Walter) passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, February 10, 2017 at Fulton Center in Gloversville, NY at the age of 94. She is survived by her granddaughter, Jaime Fisher Corwin and her husband Jeremy of Hopkinton, NH and her great-granddaughter Kiera Corwin; daughter-in-law Susan Fisher VanNostrand and her husband Eugene of Gloversville, NY; granddaughter Jessica VanNostrand Rodriguez and her husband Jaime of Gloversville, NY and her great-grandsons Darion and Dezton Rodriguez; sister Eleanor "Sally" Bonfey and her husband Charles of Gloversville, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, every Fall Stream Sportsmen's Club member, past and present, is part of Betty's extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, Clifford "Kip" and Mildred Walter, her husband Ivan Fisher, and her son Joel Fisher. Betty was born on November 28, 1922 in Gloversville, NY. She graduated from Gloversville High School and later married Ivan Fisher in 1946. She worked as a glove maker for many years until her retirement and was a long time resident of Mayfield, NY where she was an avid gardener. Above all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed knitting, musicals, westerns and Gone With the Wind. Her family camp in Piseco, NY was dear to her and she spent as many days as possible, in all seasons, each year. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral home, 51 Fremont St. in Gloversville. The service will be at 12 noon with viewing time beginning one hour before at 11am.
