Obituary of Hattie I. Hogan

Mrs. Hattie I. Hogan, 87, died peacefully Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Timothy Triumpho, 245 Donato Road, Canajoharie with her family by her side. Born on June 6, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Neil and Isabelle Kinch VanValkenburg. Hattie worked for Beech- Nut in Canajoharie and was a homemaker. She was the oldest living member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Freysbush and was a member of its Ladies Aide. She enjoyed word puzzles and crocheting. She will be sadly missed by her family and everyone that knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hogan, a daughter, Harriet Crews, a son, Russell Hogan and a brother, Ira VanValkenburg. Her loving family includes, five daughters, Elsie Buccolo and her husband Jack of Canajoharie, Doris Handy and her husband Richard of Fort Plain, Ruth Triumpho and her husband Timothy of Canajoharie, Diane Hogan of Canajoharie, and Donna Hogan of Palatine Bridge; three sons, Richard Hogan and his wife Cecilia of Fort Plain, George Hogan and his wife Bonnie of Fort Plain, Charles Hogan and his wife Darlene of Canajoharie; three sisters, Evelyn Smith of Canajoharie, Mary Croce of St. Johnsville and Mina Sweet of Gloversville; two brothers, Lewis VanValkenburg and his wife Virigina of Fort Plain and Hugh VanValkenburg and his wife Dolores of Hartwick; forty five grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 30, 2008 at 11 o'clock at St. John's Lutheran Church in Freysbush. Interment will follow in the Freysbush Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5 until 8 Friday evening at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie where arrangements have been entrusted. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the church.
