Obituary of Martha K. Davis

Martha K. Davis, 83, of McDonnell Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at her home with her family at her bed side. Born October 25, 1933 in Bruchsal, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Oskar and Bertha Fulle Faude. She was educated in Germany and in 1954 she married Seymour Lincoln Davis an American Soldier in the U.S. Army at which time she moved to Amsterdam with her family. They lived on Jackson Street for a number of years and during that time she studied and received her United States Citizenship. Martha was first employed at Mohawk Sportswear. Later she was a co-owner of Bob's Tavern with James Notro (Jimmy Tutt) for a number of years. She then worked for Amsterdam Printing & Litho for several years, until her retirement. Martha loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Florida, where she loved being at the ocean and catching the sun's rays. Martha was a humble person who had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She loved going to lunch with her life time family friend Karen Unger of Fort Johnson. Survivors include her daughter, Claudia Sizemore and her husband Scott who Martha adored and loved with her whole heart and soul; her son, John Davis of Amsterdam; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters and brothers in Germany; several nieces and nephews in Germany and the United States. Martha was predeceased by her son, Jergen D. Davis who passed away at the age of 15 from Muscular Dystrophy. There will be no funeral services or calling hours. Donations may be made in Martha's memory to Community Hospice of Amsterdam, 246 Manny's Corner Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
