Obituary of Alger Bagdan

Mr. Alger "Al" Bagdan, 91, of Consaul Road, Amsterdam, died peacefully on February 12, 2017. Born on May 7, 1925 he was the son of the late John and Antonina Peleckas Bagdonas. A lifelong area resident, Al attended local schools and was a devout parishioner of the former St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Church. For many years he was employed as a Rural Letter Carrier for the Postal Service based in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the West Charleton Volunteer Fire Department, The Postal Union of Rural Carriers and the Letter Carrier's Association. He also enjoyed home improvement projects, carpentry and woodworking. He was predeceased by his wife Joan Stanionis Bagdan; and his brother, Joseph Bagdan. Survivors include his sister in law, Norma Bagdan; one nephew, Robert Bagdan and his wife Florence; great nephews and cousins. A Graveside Service of Remembrance will take place privately at St. Casimir's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the West Charleton Volunteer Fire Department or the Galway Ambulance Corps.
