Obituary of Sara M. Born

Mrs. Sara M. Born, age 86 of Gloversville, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 in the emergency room at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, with her son at her side. She was born October 15, 1921 in Newkirk Mills Town of Caroga, NY, the daughter of the late William and Cora Ferrar Knapp. A 1939 graduate of Wheelerville Union Free School, Sara later worked at Rubin Glove Company in Gloversville. She also was employed at Bob's Taxidermy in Johnstown and was a spray painter at St. Thomas Inc. until her retirement. Mrs. Born was a member of Kingsboro Assembly of God where currently acted as Trustee. She had also been head of the clothing pantry and was a Sunday school teacher. In her earlier years she was active with the 4-H Club. She was married November 29, 1941 to Henry Born, Jr. who died August 7, 1976. Survivors include two sons: Henry J. "Butch" Born Marie of Gloversville and Robert William Born Janice of Plano, TX; two granddaughters: Raina M. Snell Jeffrey of Cape Coral, FL and Lisa Davis Jeffrey of Plano, TX; a great-grandson Michael Ralstin and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers James Knapp and Jack Knapp. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday with Pastor Matthew B. Splittgerber officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Kingsboro Assembly of God, 255 N.
